An asthma attack can happen to anyone with asthma, at any time. Even if their asthma is mild or well controlled.
All kids should have their own Asthma Action Plan. This gives you Asthma First Aid steps to follow based on your child’s own asthma and treatment.
If they don’t have an Asthma Action Plan yet – they can follow the general Asthma First Aid steps for a blue reliever puffer (salbutamol). This is safe for anyone to follow.
Blue reliever puffers are not likely to harm, even if your child does not have asthma.
Other relievers
Older children might be prescribed a different medicine for their reliever. If your child uses something other than a blue reliever puffer, you can find the instructions for them below.
