A bequest is a gift left in your Will. It’s also known as a legacy. You can leave a bequest by writing a new Will, or by adding to your existing Will. We recommend you consult a solicitor who can help you write your Will.
The best way to leave a gift is to leave a monetary gift (not property/shares etc) or a residuary gift. This is a gift of what remains after all your other provisions have been made, enabling you to put your loved ones first.
You can also leave a percentage of your estate, which is a fixed amount to be left to the charity.
Yes, absolutely. We’ve had other bequests specify what the donation be used on such as ‘Asthma in Children’. You can trust us to follow through on your specific area of focus, if you have one.
While we provide suggested wording we cannot help write a Will. You should contact a solicitor for advice on writing a Will. Bare, Australia’s leading online end-of-life planning experts are offering a free Will to Asthma Australia supporters with simple estates. Most estates are eligible. Yes, we would love to hear from you and get to know you but if you’d rather not get involved while you’re living that’s okay too.
