Asthma Australia is a content partner with ThinkGP, and proudly sponsors free, evidence-based, up-to-date and accessible learning for healthcare professionals, the Asthma in Australia series. The 2024 edition has been released with updated content, a fresh look and new accreditation.
This patient-focused and clinically relevant medical education is provided with flexibility in mind:
- six single Modules, each worth 1 hour of Educational Activity (EA) time
- an Advanced Course which will provide 6 hours of EA time and 2 hours of Reviewing Performance (RP) time

Based on current Australian guidelines, the online medical education Modules covers best practice diagnostic and management principles, strategies for preventive care and reducing the risk of hospitalisation, and real-world tips for making the most of your consultation time with a patient.
Patient case studies and downloadable resources are included throughout the modules, as well as information on ways to tailor treatment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and for culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
On completion of this education activity participants will be able to:
- Recognise and manage the total impact of asthma on patients.
- Promote self-efficacy and patient centeredness by empowering asthma patients.
- Respond appropriately to the main factors contributing to challenging asthma control.
- Produce tailored written action plans for patients.
- Systematically apply processes for diagnosing and treating asthma with greater confidence
Accreditation information:
These activities are accredited for general practitioners with both the RACGP CPD program and the ACRRM PDP program. For nurses and other professions, you may be able to self-claim this activity via your CPD governing body.
Each individual module provides 1 hour of Educational Activity (EA) time while completing the Advanced Course will provide 5 hours of EA time and 2 hours of Reviewing Performance (RP) time.
