On Monday 26th February, a multidisciplinary group of 60 attendees from across Australia gathered in Brisbane for a workshop hosted by the Social Marketing team at Griffith University.
Drawing on the lived experience of people with chronic airways disease, the one-day workshop followed the five-stage participatory design thinking process.
The aim of the workshop was to shape the design of activities for the upcoming QUM in CAD Program for healthcare professionals – which is intended to support the diagnosis of breathlessness and long-term management of asthma and COPD, to ultimately reduce hospitalisations.
The day culminated in the pitching of eight tested prototypes for education activities for healthcare professionals to improve the quality use of medicines in chronic airways disease.
We really appreciate the contribution of the 10 people with lived experience of breathlessness, asthma and COPD, and the 35 healthcare professionals who joined us with such enthusiasm and passion.
Asthma Australia is leading Program Design for the Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) in chronic airways disease (CAD) Program on behalf of the Lung Learning Partnership (Lung Foundation, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and Asthma Australia). We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of this QUM in CAD grant from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
