Asthma Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Miranda as Asthma Australia’s new CEO.

Kate’s appointment comes from an extensive executive search following the resignation of CEO, Michele Goldman, in May this year.

Kate Miranda Asthma Australia CEOWith over 25 years in the Not-for-Profit sector and federal government in health, foreign affairs, education and media, Kate is a seasoned and innovative leader with a track record in revenue growth and operational performance.

Kate has spent the last four years at Australian Red Cross, most recently serving as the Director NSW. Kate is a Non-Executive Director, and also holds Adjunct Fellow positions at Macquarie University and UTS Business School.

Board Chair James Wright said that the Board of Directors is extremely humbled and excited to have appointed a professional of Kate’s calibre as CEO.

“With Kate’s strong leadership background and advocacy skills, she will continue our commitment to halve avoidable asthma hospitalisations by 2030 through our focus on person centred asthma care and driving forward our refined 2024 – 2027 Strategic Plan,” said James.

“I am delighted to be joining Asthma Australia and look forward to building on the great work of the team, the Board and committees to improve asthma management and education, reduce the burden of disease and continue to be an effective voice for people with asthma,” said Kate.

“I would like to extend my thanks to Interim CEO Doris Whitmore and the Leadership Team for their contributions over the past six months while we worked to find the right person to take the organisation forward,” said James.

Kate will commence the role in late October 2024.
