Asthma In Schools
Asthma Australia can help you to support students & staff who have asthma.
In 2017/18 there were nearly 40,000 hospitalisations for asthma. Nearly half (44%) of these were for kids aged 0-14 years old.
It is safe to say that a large percentage of these asthma episodes occur during school hours.
It can be frightening for the person experiencing the asthma flare-up/attack but also for the teaching staff, especially if they do not know Asthma First Aid.
Being up-to-date with asthma management at your school will help your students and parents feel supported and assured that their child is safe, and their asthma and allergies are known and can be well managed.
Please also note that we have trained Asthma Educators available via 1800 ASTHMA who are available weekdays, 9am – 5pm (AEST) should you have any questions or require information about how to manage asthma within your school.
