Julia has lived with asthma all her life. With a family history of asthma, she was officially diagnosed at 10 years old.
Her asthma was mild as a child. However at the age of 25, after a series of extreme asthma attacks, her diagnosis changed to chronic brittle (severe) asthma.
Her asthma triggers are broad which has made treating her asthma over the years difficult, and she is currently on a biologic injectable medication to keep her asthma under control.
While her journey has included years of hospital visits, research trials, and ongoing treatment, Julia refuses to let her asthma define her.
She has participated in six medical research trials and has seen first-hand the impact of research into improving asthma treatment.
While Julia has battled to keep her asthma under control, this battle has given her an in-depth understanding of what all people with asthma go through on a daily basis.
She is passionate about asthma education and creating a community of support for people with asthma.
Now as a part of Asthma Australia’s Consumer Advisory Council, she hopes to help give people with asthma the ultimate gift, to live confidently and breathe freely.
